Support and advice when buying ceramics

Agnès de La Soudière advises buyers of old, modern, contemporary and extra-European ceramics.

What the support covers

Before buying a ceramic, it helps to know where it comes from, when it was made and what condition it is in. These three points affect its value and what may need to be done afterwards.

The support is for collectors and private buyers alike, for old, modern, contemporary or extra-European ceramics.

  • examination of the object: provenance, date, condition;
  • restoration advice, including what it means in cost;
  • advice on preservation and display;
  • depending on the project, work with decorators and antique dealers.

For a specific piece or a purchase question, write to the workshop or call 06 72 15 70 52.

Preservation and display

Once the piece is bought, how it is kept and displayed matters as much as its initial condition. The workshop gives advice suited to each object.

If restoration is being considered, it is discussed before the purchase: its level, what it changes in the object and what it costs. See also Quote and timing.
