KeramosRestauration Création

The company Keramos Restauration Création

A ceramic restoration workshop run by Agnès de La Soudière, based in Montchevrel, in the Orne.

One workshop, several activities

Keramos Restauration Création was founded in June 2013 in Rueil-Malmaison. Since January 2020 the workshop has been in the Orne, in Montchevrel, 20 minutes north of Alençon.

The core of the work is the restoration of porcelain, earthenware, biscuit and terracotta. Alongside it, the workshop offers advice, brokerage and the sale of ceramics. The four pages below each present one side of the business.

  • An old white earthenware jug with colourful flower motifs, an animal-head spout and a twisted handle.

    About Agnès de La Soudière

From musicology studies to the founding of the workshop: the training, the people and the dates that led to ceramic restoration.

  • A large round Japanese porcelain dish with figures by a balustrade, colourful floral motifs and blue and red borders.

    The restorer’s craft

Restoring in a museum or on one’s own account: what sets the two practices apart, and the different approaches to a restoration.

  • An old Delft earthenware plate in blue and white, with a bouquet of peacock feathers in the centre and stylised flowers on the rim.

    Other activities

Advice before a purchase, searching for pieces for collectors, and a ceramics shop whose stock varies.

  • A large round white porcelain dish decorated in blue with bamboo and flowers, with a rim of floral motifs.

    Ceramics

What is meant by ceramics, porosity and glazing, and the four main families: terracotta, earthenware, porcelain and stoneware.
